Not at all! You don't need to be a mathematician or an experienced card player. Bridge is a game of patterns and logic rather than numbers — and we teach it in a way that makes sense from day one. Plenty of our best players came to bridge with no card-playing background whatsoever.

You can learn the basics in just a few lessons and be playing with other members very quickly. Becoming a confident player takes a little longer — but that's part of the joy. Bridge is a game you keep getting better at, and every session teaches you something new.

For most sessions, yes — membership gives you access to the full range of club sessions, results, and events. However, our Thursday Social Supervised session is open to non-members, so that's a wonderful way to come and try us out first. Just turn up by 1pm!

Not at all! Several of our sessions — including Play & Discuss and Thursday Social Supervised — welcome players without a partner. For Club Bridge sessions, a partner is required, but we are always happy to help connect you with one. Just post in the WBC Partners & News WhatsApp group or contact us beforehand.

Absolutely. Our Club Bridge sessions welcome players using a variety of systems including ACOL, American Standard, and 5-card majors. Whatever system you play, you'll find others who speak your language!

These are the three playing levels at Waiheke Bridge Club. Juniors are newer players still building their game, Intermediates have a solid foundation and are developing further, and Open players are the most experienced. Many sessions welcome all three levels — and moving up through the levels as your game improves is one of the great satisfactions of club bridge!

Masterpoints are awarded by NZ Bridge to recognise your results in eligible sessions and tournaments. They accumulate over time and reflect your playing achievements. Not all sessions allocate Masterpoints — see our Sessions page for details on which ones do.

There is limited parking outside the clubrooms for earlybirds and plenty of parking down the road.

Our lessons are friendly, relaxed, and lots of fun. You'll learn step by step alongside other beginners, with an experienced teacher guiding you through bidding, play, and the conventions of the game. No prior knowledge needed — just bring your curiosity!
